I installed an aftermarket sound system to my 08 Lancer. Door speakers were quite interesting to get right. The OEM mounts are very unique and I needed to chop the OEM speakers out of the mounts and retro fit the Rockford 6.5" inch mids onto them. The mounts are required as they keep the depth of the speaker away from catching an opening window inside the door. You could probably make your own mounts, but I didn't bother.

I used a hacksaw blade and cut the OEM speakers out of mounts and smoothed away the cut edges. A 6.5" speaker fits nice and snug.

My model Lancer doesn't come with tweeters but there are tweeter holders/mounts at the tops of the doors, so I just used some silicone to stick the Rockford tweeters into there. The 3 way crossover for the front split system is mounted inside each door, zip tied to the internal door wiring. The second tweeter is mounted above the mids cone (the P162S rockford set I used is a 3 way, 1 mid, 2 tweeter setup).

I decided not to use the OEM speaker wiring and have not cut any original vehicle wiring. I ran new speaker cables under the kick panels and through the rubber sleeve between door and vehicle interior.

I'll be doing rear doors soon and will post information.
I'll also post info on wiring for amplifiers soon.

It's not damaged. It got pinched in the previous install, but not cut or split. It does not affect SQ.
The whole system has since been replaced with a new JL Audio system. Dynamat has also now been used for better SQ.
