Congrats to Voodoo:

He made 185.5KW atw on the Snail Dyno this weekend on a conservative Stg1 Tune...

Stage 1 Evo 8
181kw at 330nm torque on KR's dyno.

My stage 1 currently consists of....
Works downpipe
Decatted stock zorst
HKS EVC6 boost controller.
Remapped by myself (no knock counts at all)

I had a custom 76mm KR zorst fitted/fabricated by Adelin (awesome job, all tig welded etc), which probally makes me stage 1,5,

and at the SOCSA clubs Dyno day on staurday I did...

190,1 kw and 350 torque.

my figure's if anybody is interested.

car has never been on snails but i reckon the difference between snail's and Kyoto is easy 30kw...

2 bar boost 302KW and 520NM
gonna install the meth kit and get another wastgate spring to hold more boost.

hoping for 320 and 540nm at kyoto at 2.2 bar boost!
should be about 350-360 at snails
this is still with a stock block and head..

Wish me luck Razz

Good luck Johhny!

Yeah for sure Snail is on averrage about 8%-10% more than what the actual KW should be I rekon... This I believe is because the Wheel KW is sea level corrected. The equipment itself is a proper Hyper Power 4WD unit...

Sherwins 335i made 230KW at Kyoto and 245KW at Snail about a 15KW difference...

Stock Evo's make about 160KW atw on Snail and Stock Scoobies 120-140KW atw...

My Evo 8 made 177KW at Snail and 163KW at Perfect Power

My 9 made on same setup 200KW at Snail and 190KW Kyoto without any changes... Anyway with a very poor launch 3500rpm I ran a 13.1@171 at Tarlton last week... Still klapped the white 335i next to me after starting slightly after him by the end of 2nd gear the race was over...

So I agree it does read a bit higher then Kyoto & PP...

But one thing you must remember is that a Dyno is just a measuring instument - some of them under read some of over read a lot of it has to do with the correction factors and the software on the Dyno as well as the weight of the rollers and setup etc.

Ideally what you want is a wheel KW figure that correlates back to flywheel power obviously drivetrain losses are diffrent on diffrent cars but the rule of thump is a 15-20% Drivetrain loss for FWD cars... AWD cars depending on the Car can be anywhere from 25-40%.

An instrument that under reads is just as bad as an instrument that over reads becoz what you actually want to get to is as close to the truth as possible... think of a speedometer that under reads. Some people find Dyno's that under read an Ego Booster just as much as some find a Dyno that over reads an Ego Boost. (my car made 140kw BUT ON kYOTO!) it is somthing to be proud of - I have seen dynos which create more load allow certain high boost cars to make more power at the wheels because lighter rollers mean less load which means less boost than we run on the road especially on high boost cars...

At the end of the day - I say compare cars the same day on the same dyno...

Awsome Well Done SeanV! How much easier is it to make power on an Evo with bolt-ons... Wink

What do the Stage 1 Scoobies make in comparison to you?

.

ps. You guys should run at Snail - especially Johnny I think he will crack mid 300's for sure... Damity we need to have an EVO Club Dyno Day...

hmmm!

i don't know about that Sal
martin Peters did 262 at kyoto and 295 at snails

I think the higher the power the more the difference increases..

i will go to snails one day for a run and see!

Cool let me know I will tag along...

Agreed the higher the KW of the car the bigger the difference should be...

295 - 262 = 33/262 = 12%

Hmmmnnn 12% is high for sure....

So you making almost 40KW more than him atw at Kyoto so theoretically I think you can make possibly make around 340KW in current setup on Snail...

Interesting.

Here i9s some more interesting info. My KR fabricated single scrol 3076R / 38mm Tiel EWG made 303WKW/515Nm at 1,95bar - sels for 36K as a full kit.

My twin scroll (KR desing twin 44mm Tiels ) makde 310/535 at 2bar. - sels for 53K as a full kit.

FP green 247WKW/480Nm at 1,7bar. done lots of track time.

All cars are driven like this all the time so no dyno queens alowed in my place.

I tunned Martins car at 352WKW on my rollers. Hilton worked with em on this one as he is Martins usual tuner. (this is not a track car)

Ive built about 8 Evos so far all making above 230WKW some on FP green and some with much bigger turbos.

My own shop Evo is rated for 1000Hp and will make over 600WKW on my dyno. 2L Engine done, Twin scroll turbo GT4294R just need to install and tune.

I hope to finish Jhonnys car before i go to Dubai for a year. He has the GT4088R and should make 450-460WKW/ 650-750Nm on KR.

I have proven time and agin that these USA mail in flashes are cr@p. For example two evos i did recently - one came in with 178WKW and left with 237WKW. the other cam in with 182WKW and left with 230WKW. Both were promised big numbners and were left duissapointed.

There is no substitute for tuing any car for the lcoal environment and knowing what your doing! Ive tuned in many countries where ive lived and JHB's altitude is the biggest problem you have.

And for interests sake - my ATP 30R kit bolt on cheap junk still made 290WKW on KR. ITs a cheap solution - but you get waht you pay for. the thing leaked in all places and most of the bolts came loose on a regular basis.

The GT 3076R is a versatile turbo that can do a lot in the right configuration. As an example Costa made 292kw/460nm on PP at 1,8bar boost. In the right hands that turbo at that boost should make 350WKW/600nm.

Wow Pops, thats some good info - nice to the see that T3 .78 TS has so much Potential...

Would be more than happy with close to 300KW atw on your rollers.
