I am considering getting the Lancer 2.0 GLS CVT 2008 model
What can you guys who own one of theses offer as advice?
Anything I should look out for ?
Also I cannot find all the specs regarding the car eg. fuel consumption
I drove the CVT yesterday and will drive the manual on tommorow, I like the look and the drive, nice car... not crazy about the cloth interior so will prpably xhange to leather
I would really appreciate the help |

Very solid car. The only gripe I have with the CVT is the lack of performance. But if ur not gonna drive it hard then its perfect.
Also there is nothing much to look out for with these cars. If it has been serviced by mitsubishi, then everything should be in order.
As for the cloth interior, if u want to change it, then contact shadows on this forum. He has some very nice leather sets for the lancer that arnt that expensive (looking at about R10 000 for full interior).
I assure u, u cant go wrong with this car _________________ ________________________

I again preferred the CVT to the manual. I think the lack in power is negligible between the 2. The CVT you get constant acceleration so you don't FEEL like you are accelerating as fast because you don't get that, "jerking" motion when you change gears. So it's perception I think.
I have had the chance to make 1 or 2 "comparisons" on the road.
The only place where the manual has the upper hand is on launch, but as soon as he shifts to 2nd or 3rd the CVT catches up.
What I found as well is to put it in 1st then second and after that flick it into drive, you get great launch and then you get good drive.
I think the manual might be faster from 0-60kmp/h but the CVT is faster from say 60KM/h to 120KM/h.
just my opinion from what I have experienced. But I didn't buy the car to do robot to robot races anyway. Then I would have rather got some old Nissan and threw some turbos and stuff in or if I had the cash an EVO!! DROOL!
The CVT is really nice to have in traffic and on the open road when you want to pass trucks and other slower moving cars.
Consumption. I get anywhere between 10K's per Litre - 13.8k's per Litre. Depending on the drive. Best so far was 14.1k's per litre but that was on a longer drive without much traffic doing 110-120kmp/h
As to the cloth...I personally don't like leather..but I agree the cloth could have been a bit better.
I hope you enjoy the car whichever one you choose.
It's a great car - I really love it. |

I wouldnt extend the warranty. I have the one of the first lancer brought into SA and it was the buggiest and still nothing has gone wrong and my warranty just expired. As for leather, like I said contact shadows. U can check the styles on his website
