Hi,

I have an offer.
Why not register a proper .co.za domain (R50.00 annual cost).
I will provide free hosting for as long as I can. I've got a server which I've run for the last couple years, providing free hosting to my family and friends. It would be on a shared linux hosting system. I'd never charge for the service (unless of course it becomes the biggest motoring community in SA and starts attracting big corporate sponsorship...then you can show me the money...hahaha) but let's say in 2 years time my cirumstances change and I can't offer free hosting any more, you'd simply have to find another host.
We can install latest version of PHPBB, any other forum or other software.

Anyway, the option is there, let me know.

I forgot to mention...if this is something you would consider then you would need to find out how to capture/download the current forum database in order to not lose current information.
If my memory serves me correctly, a database download/backup option is available from within the PHPBB forum admin section...I'm not sure about this free forumup.co.za setup though.

Thing about this forum up free hosting is that there's almost no maintenance or Admin required from us...

What I can suggest is that you set up a home page with a Url and we link the forum into it.

You can setup:
- Events calender
- News feeds
- Photo Galery
- Members area
- etc.

how about that?

Cool, that sounds fine.
Anyone on the forums willing to put some time into developing a Joomla or Mambo site? My hosting offers auto installations of all these open source solutions, but of course they need to customised etc.

Looking good, now the key to having a good club site is not the forum but a behind the scenes interactive Members area were secure information can be shared...

So it needs to have some kind of DB backend to store names and contact details + mass email or sms notification and a Admin consol for approving users, key information only viewable by registered members behind the scenes.

Think you can build that?

ps, we had this back in the day for the Coupe club and it was very effective, worked much better than the forum...

don't think you will be able to see the members area though but if you register give me a shout and I will approve you.
