Want to build a 500HP Evo on a budget but you are dwaft by figures that some guys throw around, but heres some good news 500HP can be done on a budget as well...

Turbo kit:
T3 Cast Manifold by RevHard USA (R3000)
T3-T4 Turbonetics Ceramic Ballbearing Turbo (R9000) choose the one that supports your HP goal...
38mm Turbonetics Evolution Wastegate (R2000)
Custom fabricated Downpipe and fitings (R2000)

Exhaust:
Megan Racing Downpipe and decat pipe (R2500)
OBX Backbox (R1500)
Custom 3inch center section (R1500)

Internals: (Drop-in Rods & Pistons)
Wiseco Pistons (R4000)
Eagle Rods (R3500)
Plus gaskets & seals etc (R1500)
*NB if you on a very tight budget its not necesary to change the pistons, after some research I found that most tuners rate the stock pistons safe for 500HP some enthusiasts rate it good up to 550HP - reccomendation is that the Rods be upgraded at least to Eagle Rods*

Headwork:
Cosworth 272 Cams (R7000)
Supertech Springs & Retainers (R3000)

Fuel Supply:
PTE 780's Injectors (R2500)
Walbro 255L intank pump (R1000)
Zex in-line Booster pump (R1500)

FMIC:
Greddy FMIC Kit with piping (R5000)

Clutch:
ACT 6 PUCK RACE DISC Clutch kit (R5000)

Tunning:
ECU-Flash - mail flash from the states ($100)

Wham, Bham with a little bit of labour you too can have a 500HP EVO

Wink

In SA on the Opel Scene we have been doing similar cast manifold Turbo upgrades to the TS's for years for well under R15k pushing out 350-400HP like clockwork pretty much since the 90's... In them days it included Injectors + Unichip & FMIC with piping (stock block)

So Lennys taken up the challenge to try and put together a EVO DIY T3/T4E 50Trim kit for less than the price of the Green for his Evo 8... (goal is 270KW atw)

I have almost put together a kit similar to the 500HP Turbonetics 60trim Ceramic Ball Bearing Kit for close to 15k, just a few odds and ends to sort out. Have interested two of my friends who are looking to aquire Evo's as toys willing to try it out. (Goal is 300KW atw) excluding the supporting mods injectors, FMIC, Cams, etc...

Bang for the buck motoring - its a beataful thing...

Here's an important fact most people overlook:

ForcedPerformance wrote:
There is NOTHING you can do to make a TD05H work better at 7K plus. Its a 'small' turbine wheel, performance is going to suffer at high RPM. Look at the exhaust pressure. Eventually it goes sky high. It doesn't matter if Tom or Fred or FP or Joe Average is using it, it has certain characteristics, it has a performance window...

I think this a very important point that most people miss, the limitation of all OEM Stock frame Turbos is the Hotside...

What is the 10.5cfm Mitsu Hot side equivalent to in Garrett terms??? T3 .48 or smaller would be the most likely answer...

back in the uk Manu from turbo dynamics (now living in zim and good mate of steve@nosweat) built us a evoIX gt turbo with flowed housings and reworked trim and clip on the compressor wheel and at 1.7bar it made 470bhp (flywheel) was mighty impressed .
but the turbonetics bb turbos are great value for money Cool

We actually considered this stock frame option - upgraded to Ballbearing for my car right at the begining - steve spoke to manu at the time but the cost was just too prohibative... Like about R20k in total.

That was before the RED came out - so if I was building my Evo from scratch now I would buy a RED but the cost would be about the same R20k only bonus is that it will look stock.
